Honda team boss Nick Fry has admitted that the team's current package is not good enough to win a grand prix this season.
The Honda team were hoping to build on last year's successful campaign, where they finished sixth in the constructors' championship, and Britain's Jenson Button was aiming to bag his first grand prix victory in 2006.
However, after a disappointing few months, Fry has admitted that the car cannot keep up with the front-runners and Button will have to wait another year for a win.
"Clearly from now it looks incredibly difficult, there's no doubt about that," Fry said.
"The strength of both Ferrari and Renault means no one else is getting a look in and difficult as it may be, we are just going to try our hardest."
Button's miserable run was compounded at last weekend's French grand prix at Magny-Cours, where he qualified in 18th position before retiring on lap 61.
His team-mate Rubens Barrichello has also struggled and Button admits the team is going into testing this week at Jerez looking for some big improvements.
"We have a tough week when we will run through the aero package again and find some improvements because we definitely need it," Button said.
"Obviously I am pushing very hard and Rubens is doing the same but you have to understand what the issues are."
Honda have two weeks until the next grand prix at Hockenheim in Germany.
