Channel 4 will finally end broadcasting episodes of the cult US TV show Friends after 15 years, it has been confirmed.
Repeats of the popular sitcom, which stars Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox, will no longer be shown on either Channel 4 or its sister station E4 from next autumn.
The move ends the show's 15-year reign on the Channel 4, but the broadcaster has declared "it's time to say goodbye".
Channel 4's Gill Hay said: "We are incredibly proud to have been the home of Friends for so long, but at a point when the channel is undergoing a period of creative renewal it felt like the right time to part company."
The show has been deemed one of the most successful US sitcoms of all time, following the lives of six friends - Joey, Chandler, Monica, Rachel, Ross and Phoebe - living in New York. The last ever episode drew an audience of 8.6 million viewers to Channel 4 when it was screened in 2004.
E4 still has the show on repeat every day of the week, attracting an average of almost 400,000 viewers.
The creation of David Crane and Marta Kauffman lasted for ten seasons and gained a number of awards over that time, including nominations for 63 Primetime Emmy Awards, winning six, and won one Golden Globe.
