The director of a Marseille tennis tournament has called for British star Andy Murray to be suspended by the ATP Tour after his late withdrawal from this week's Open 13.
Jean-Francois Caujolle claims the world number three has no "sense of responsibility" after pulling out of the competition when pencilled in as the top seed.
"Murray did the same thing to me last year. He can't know what it is to keep his word," he said.
Caujolle says he was left astounded after Murray, who reached the final of the Australian Open last month before losing to world number one Roger Federer, made several requests of the organisers before withdrawing.
"A week ago he asked me for a wild card to play doubles with his brother Jamie, and I gave him one," Caujolle continued.
"A few days ago he asked me for five hotel rooms, and I gave him them.
"The number one seed of a tournament should have a sense of responsibility. If he does not respect his commitments, he should be suspended by the ATP."
In a brief statement on his website, Murray confirmed he has "taken an extra week off to recuperate and recover for the long season ahead".
He still plans to fulfill his commitments at his next scheduled competition, a 500-point tournament in Dubai which begins next Monday.
