Freddie Ljungberg will not leave Arsenal for another Premiership club, according to his agent.
The 30-year-old midfielder looks set to leave the Gunners after nine years at the club.
Ljungberg has been linked with a move to Sunderland and Sven Goran Eriksson's Manchester City for around £5.5 million.
Claes Elefalk, the Sweden midfielder's agent, said Ljungberg is only considering a move abroad.
"I haven't talked to Fredrik about that (interest), but he has earlier said that due to his respect for the Arsenal fans he can't play for another English club," Elefalk told TT.
Italian club Fiorentina are favourites to land Ljungberg on a four-year deal where he could link-up with former Gunners team-mate Arturo Lupoli.
But newspaper reports claim Fiorentina are unwilling to pay the £70,000-a-week Ljungberg earns at the north London club.
Arsenal meanwhile want a cash deal and rejected the Viola's offer of a part exchange deal involving former Everton midfielder Per Kroldrup.
Elefalk rejected claims that Ljungberg's wages was the stumbling block.
"Arsenal are demanding more than the offer Fiorentina have tabled," Elefalk said.
"The clubs have to reach an agreement first, then we will sit down and discuss an eventual offer. We haven't reached that stage yet."
Ljungberg, who was linked with a move to West Ham in January, has two years remaining on his Gunners contract.
