Four men have been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with terror-related offences following a series of raids last week.

Isar Malik, 21, from Fallowfield, Manchester, has been charged with "intending to commit acts of terrorism, namely violent jihad" between June 2008 and November 17th this year.

Haris Farooqi, 26, from Levenshulme, Matthew Newton, 27, from Stalybridge, and Munir Farooqi, 52, from Longsight, are all charged with "the intention of assisting others to commit acts of terrorism" between October 1st 2008 and November 17th 2009.

Munir Farooqi, the father of Haris Farooqi, is also charged with three counts of "encouraging another to murder another person or persons" on July 6th, October 15th and October 16th.

All four men appeared at Westminster magistrates' court today and were remanded in custody.
