Former Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has sealed a controversial move to Uniteds bitter rivals Manchester City.
Tevez helped United to two league titles and the Champions League, but fell out-of-favour in his second season of a two-year loan at Old Trafford.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson tried in a last-ditch attempt to keep the 25-year-old, but Tevez decided to leave after feeling he was not valued by United.
It was widely reported that City would win the race to sign Tevez, although some doubted whether the former United fans favourite would sign for their biggest rivals. But Tevez has indeed decided to move to Eastlands, where he has signed a five-year deal subject to completing a medical.
"It is terrific news," City manager Mark Hughes told the club's official website. "Carlos is an international player of the highest class who possesses all the attributes that will help drive this club forward.
"He is not only outstanding technically, but he is a reliable goalscorer and someone who will contribute fully to the team ethic. He gives us another exciting, attacking dimension.
"I cannot wait to welcome him to City. This is yet another deal that shows the commitment of the owner Sheikh Mansour to make this club the very best it can possibly be. I am sure our fans will give Carlos an exceptionally warm welcome."
With the imminent arrival of Tevez, City have a stunning forward line which includes the likes of Robinho, Roque Santa Cruz, Craig Bellamy, Benjani and Felipe Caicedo. But it looks like they will continue to spend with reports claiming they have made a £22 million bid for Emmanuel Adebayor.
