Former South Africa coach Graham Ford has indicated that he would be interested in taking the vacant England coaching job.
In one of the most turbulent weeks in English cricket history, a row between former captain Kevin Pietersen and ex-coach Peter Moores led to both leaving their post with Pietersen resigning and Moores getting the sack.
Andrew Strauss has been named the new skipper but the coaching role has yet to be filled, with Andy Flower the favourite to take temporary charge and lead the team to the West Indies. But Ford is one of the favourites to land the job on a permanent basis.
The 48-year-old is the current coach at Kent and though he is interested in the England positon, he admitted he would need to take time to think about the role if it was offered to him.
"Anybody would be interested in being coach of England but I'd need to find out more," said Ford. "I'm not the kind of person to make a decision overnight and being involved in the West Indies would certainly be a rush job.
"Were I to be considered the ECB would have to do their homework and make sure the players are behind me."
Ford is a well respected coach and was highly successful during his two-year stint as coach of South Africa between 1999 and 2001, winning eight out of 11 Test series'.
Australians and former Sri Lanka coaches Tom Moody and Dav Whatmore are also names that have been linked with the England job.
