Andrew Flintoff hopes to use the momentum of England's victory over India in Mumbai into the one-day campaign this week.
Having recently returned from seeing his newborn son Corey, the England captain hopes the visitors can continue their form and maintain their one-day international record tomorrow.
Speaking ahead of the match in Delhi, Flintoff said: "It is very satisfying winning cricket matches out here.
"The Test series was a great chance for some new players to make a start and the one-dayers should be the same."
The absence of experienced in the form of Marcus Trescothick and Ashley Giles though will increase the hosts' advantage.
In their last one-day international against India - the series finishing 3-3 - England won the Delhi test, in which Giles took five wickets.
As a result of Giles' absence, England will rely upon Worcestershire's Gareth Batty and Somerset's Ian Blackwell for their spin options.
In response to India's impressive record in one-day internationals, Flintoff commented: "They play to entertain and come out playing shots. Virender Sehwag at the top of the order comes out swinging and they have a lot of experience in their ranks."
Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, meanwhile, could be out of action for three months following surgery on a shoulder injury.
The surgeon who operated on the batsman said: "The surgery proceeded successfully without any complications."
