American Mardy Fish is through to the final of the ATP Pilot Pen tournament in New Haven. He beat the 11th seed Croatian Ivo Karlovic in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3) 6-4.
The 25-year old wildcard entry capped off an extraordinary week, which has seen him beat Argentina's Jose Acasuso 6-7 6-3 6-0 and Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland 6-3 6-3.
This is the first final he has reached this year, with his best results coming from reaching the semi-finals of the Memphis and Auckland International Series and the quarterfinal of the Australian Open.
He will either meet good friend and compatriot James Blake or fifth-seeded Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu in the final on Saturday.
