Andy Murray has failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Aegon Championships at Queen's after being defeated in three sets by Mardy Fish.
The match had resumed at 3-3 in the third set on Thursday after being halted due to bad light the previous evening, with Murray, the defending champion, frustrated at play being delayed.
But after both men held their serve on Thursday, Fish triumphed in the tie-break to reach the last eight with a 6-4 1-6 7-6 (7-2) win.
American player Fish will now play Michael Llodra for a place in the semi-finals at Queen's while Murray now faces 11 days without a competitive match before Wimbledon begins on June 21st.
Commenting on the postponement of play on Wednesday evening, Murray remarked: "It's been tough, yesterday was difficult conditions, very heavy on the court and blustery. We got stopped at a tough stage of the match and today I didn't play a good tie-break.
"I think it's always good that both players have a say in what happens out there but nobody mentioned anything to me and that's why I was disappointed."
World number 90 Fish stressed: "It was extremely dark last night, I told the chair umpire at 3-2 it was pretty dark, so we played one more game. I didn't do any pleading or anything."
He added: "Today the wind's died down and it's much better conditions. I'm happy obviously, but when you can't see the ball there's no point."
