Steven Finn has refused to get too carried away with being named man-of-the-match after taking nine wickets during the first Test match against Bangladesh at Lord's.
The 6ft 8in paceman finished with figures of 9-187, including a five-wicket haul during Bangladesh's second innings.
Despite having his name immortalised on the Lord's honours board, Finn said he still had a long way to go if he wanted to cement his place in the England team.
"It was nice to get nine but there's a lot of hard work that needs to go in," the 21-year-old said.
"There are guys to come back in who are ahead of me in the pecking order. I'm not going to kid myself. Yes I've had fun playing this Test match. I'm loving playing for my country at the moment; but it's for me to really make it difficult for the selectors to drop me.
"If I can do that by putting consistent performances, whether it be for England or for Middlesex, throughout the season and I keep taking wickets then yeah my name will be there or there abouts, but its going to take a lot of hard work from me to get at that stage in the next five months [in time for the Ashes series in Australia]."
Finn did allow himself a slight moment to savour his impressive home Test debut though, admitting having his name on the famous Lord's board was "something I've dreamt about".
