Celebrity couple Jordan and Peter Andre have upped the security at their multi-million pound East Sussex house over kidnap fears.

The Metropolitan police are investigating "intelligence" about an apparent kidnap plot involving the glamour model's two children.

Jordan and Australian pop singer Andre have an 11-month-old son, Junior, together, while they also care for the model's three-year-old son from a previous relationship.

Following reports in the British press yesterday that a gang were planning to demand a £1 million ransom Scotland Yard have confirmed they are looking into the matter.

"Our specialist kidnap unit is investigating intelligence about a threat to kidnap and extra security has been put in place to help protect the family," a Met spokesman said.

The News of the World yesterday reported that a gang of criminals from the UK and abroad were planning to kidnap the two children from the property in Uckfield.

It reports that an alarm system comprising a panic button has now been installed.

Jordan, 27, whose real name is Katie Price, married Andre, 33, after the couple met on ITV's reality TV programme I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

They wed in September last year in a lavish ceremony in Berkshire three months after Junior was born.

Harvey, three, was born while Jordan and footballer Dwight Yorke were together.track
