Fergie "bouncing" after United's Premier League win

Alex Ferguson "bouncing" after seeing United win Premier League
Sir Alex Ferguson has said Manchester United's tenth Premier League title means the team will be "bouncing into" next week's Champions League final.

The Red Devils beat Wigan Athletic 2-0 on the final day of the season to hold off a late surge from Chelsea, who were eventually held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by Bolton Wanderers.

But immediately after wrapping up a second consecutive domestic crown, Ferguson had already turned his attention towards the European final next week where United will face Chelsea in Moscow hoping to do the double.

When asked if winning the Champions League would assure the current team's place in the Old Trafford history books, Ferguson commented: "If we win the European Cup it has to be the best team ever.

"We are bouncing into the final now."

United's title means they have now won the top division 17 times – one short of the record held by bitter rivals Liverpool.

And Ferguson believes it is only a matter of time before his current charges overhaul that mark to become the most successful English club of all time.

"I think it will come," he explained.

"This side is young. There is plenty left in them so the 18th title will come.

"It has a lot of experience in Edwin van der Sar, Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes. That kind of experience allows young players to develop."End of story
