Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has hit out again at Rafael Benitez, branding the Liverpool boss 'arrogant' and "beyond the pale".
The pair have been embroiled in an on-off war of words since the Spaniard unleashed a torrent of abuse against his adversary - reading out a list of various complaints about him in January.
And in the latest twist, Ferguson recalled Benitez's misreported comments about Everton being a 'small club' and said it "points to his arrogance".
"They are a big club and David Moyes is doing a great job," the Scot said of the club that stands in United's way of an FA Cup final this weekend.
Ferguson also referred to Benitez's gestures during last week's 4-0 defeat of Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League, when he appeared to indicate that the game was over as a contest after the Reds' second goal went in.
"When Liverpool scored their second [Benitez] signalled as if the game was finished. I don't think Sam [Allardyce, the Rovers manager] deserved that," Ferguson continued.
"Sam has worked so hard for the League Managers' Association and he had a weakened team. I thought it showed contempt.
"In my experience no Liverpool manager would ever have done that. It was beyond the pale."
