Alex Ferguson says the Glazer family will not let winger Cristiano Ronaldo leave the club as they value him too much.
Ferguson has been impressed with the way the American owners have operated since they took control of the club in 2005.
Ronaldo has been at the centre of intense speculation linking him with a move to Real Madrid who have made no secret of their desire to sign him.
In fact, their courting of the player has become so public that United felt the need to issue a statement threatening to report the Spanish club to Fifa earlier this week.
The Scot says that in his experience the Glazers are not people who will be dictated to and would be quite happy to let Ronaldo sit in the stands rather than let him join one of their European rivals.
Ferguson told the News of the World: "I've had a couple of meetings with the Glazers. Their attitude is, 'To hell with them'. They'd sit a player in the stand, I'm telling you, absolutely no doubt about it, just to prove a point. Not to give in to these people."
The United boss says the Americans have the attitude necessary to run a club successfully and that he can not complain about their stewardship of the club since they took over.
He said: "They've got balls, I can tell you. I've been delighted with them in that respect.
"They have been good to this club, believe me. They have been brilliant owners."
Since the Glazers took over at United the club has won the Carling Cup, the Premier League twice and the European Cup.
