Roger Federer has qualified for the third round of Wimbledon after completing a straight sets win over Robin Soderling.
The defending champion won 6-3 6-4 7-6 7/3 and was relatively comfortable throughout the match.
Federer won the first set in just 27 minutes, breaking the Dutchman once. He only needed one break of serve in the second set as well as he efficiently went two sets up.
Soderling rallied in the third set and broke the Swiss star's serve for the first time in the tournament to go 5-3 ahead.
Federer could have been forgiven for having eased off after cruising through the first two sets but the break of serve re-awakened him.
The world number one forced a tie-break and Soderling duly handed the set and match to his opponent due to a series of unforced errors.
Elsewhere, 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt beat Albert Montanes 7-6 7/4 6-0 6-2 to progress into round three.
Hewitt had endured a tough first round match which went to five sets so the Australian was undoubtedly relieved that his second round match was considerably more comfortable.
After being forced in to a tie-break in the first set Hewitt dominated the final two sets. He will now face Simone Bolelli after he upset 15th seed Fernando Gonzalez.
Bolelli won 7-6 10/8 7-6 9/7 3-6 7-6 7/4, showing superb character to win all three of the sets which went to a tie-break.
Number five seed David Ferrer is also through to the third round. Despite dropping the first set against Igor Andreev the Spaniard won 3-6 6-3 6-4 6-2. He will now face big-serving Croat Mario Ancic who despatched Philipp Petzschner 6-1 6-4 6-7 1/7 4-6 6-3.
