Tehran gets tough with fresh warning to Washington
If the US public is aware of the extent to which the White House was interfering in the internal affairs of Tehran in an attempt to topple the Iranian government, they would demand an immediate change in policy.
That's according to one of the country's senior generals, Brigadier General Seyyed Masoud Jazayeri.
Brig Gen Jazayeri, deputy head of the armed forces headquarters, said Iran's military is fully prepared to react to any aggression against Tehran by foreign powers.
"What will remain after a foreign invasion against Iran is a frail and shaky structure of a torn-to-shreds America," he told local reporters.
Iran's foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki, meanwhile, said the United States does not have the capacity to launch another war in the Middle East.
Mr Mottaki urged foreign leaders to change their spectacles or get their eyes tested and look at Tehran through a new lens.
"By changing the eyeglasses, I would say they'd be able to see issues more clearly and better," he said.
The minister pointed out that Iran has never initiated war against a foreign country, and said the country remained committed to a constructive approach to resolve issues.
Western powers, led by the US, Britain, and France, have accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian atomic energy program.
Iran has dismissed the accusations as baseless.
