Council officials have drawn the line in a dispute concerning a parking ticket issued to a motorist after workman painted a single yellow line underneath his car.
Nasser Khan, 28, from Salford in Greater Manchester, was shocked to find that the road marking had been painted underneath his Toyota MR2 while he was away from the vehicle.
The exasperated driver, who had left the car in a gap in the line previously left by road workers, was then horrified to discover that he had been issued with a ticket for illegal parking.
Luckily, Mr Khan had a second note on his windscreen from a local office worker, telling him about the antics that had occurred in his absence, which he had caught on camera.
Detailing what he and fellow colleagues had witnessed from their office, design engineer Geoff Blackburn said: "We saw a group of workmen and two traffic wardens surround the car for several minutes.
"One of the workmen came back and crouched under the car to paint the yellow line, and then the traffic warden issued the ticket."
Mr Khan, who wants council chiefs to cough up for damage he claims occurred to the tyres of his car during the painting of the line by private contractors, said: "I thought I was lucky to get the space but I didn't think I would get a ticket because it was a legitimate parking area.
"I couldn't believe they painted the line underneath my vehicle."
A spokesman for Salford City Council said that it had cancelled Mr Khan's parking ticket as soon as he had informed them of the incident and added that officials were prepared to investigate further claims made by the motorist on the receipt of evidence.
