Cesc Fabregas will sign improved terms on his existing Arsenal contract, which runs until 2014, to fend off interest from Barcelona.
Martin O'Neill will accept his Aston Villa side need reinforcements to handle the loss of Gareth Barry to Manchester City with the £12 million signing of Jermaine Jenas. The Spurs midfielder has lost his place in Harry Redknapp's XI to Wilson Palacios and Tom Huddlestone.
Redknapp is planning a spree of his own, with Celtic midfield duo Aiden McGeady and Scott Brown both in his sights.
Premier League castaway Henri Camara may find himself playing at cash-strapped Portsmouth. The Senegalese striker has been without a club since being released by Wigan at the end of last season.
Pompey manager Paul Hart could lose Croatian midfielder Niko Kranjcar, with Villa or Spurs both interested in the 25-year-old.
It could be a busy week for O'Neill at Villa Park before the transfer window closes, with Pompey's Sylvain Distin and Manchester City's Richard Dunne both his radar, while unsettled Luke Young could move to Hull City with Michael Turner going in the opposite direction.
Meanwhile, Manchester City are expected to complete the protracted signing of Joleon Lescott from Everton in the coming days.
