'Baby skeletons' found in box

Police are investigating the grim discovery
Police are investigating the discovery of two babies' skeletons in a house in Greater Manchester.

The bones are believed to have been at the address in Rowcon Close in Ashton for some time.

They were uncovered shortly after 22:30 BST last Thursday after Greater Manchester police (GMP) received reports that human bones had been discovered.

Media reports suggest they were found in a box by a relative clearing out the house of an elderly woman who had recently died.

The box contained two further boxes, each of which contained one set of remains.

"Inquiries are continuing," a GMP spokesperson said today, with the main line of investigation believed to be a pending post-mortem on the two bodies which will seek to establish a cause of death for the pair.End of story
