The family of a 19-month-old boy killed in a hit and run collision in south London have said they are devastated at his death.
Billy Donnelly died when the pushchair he was in was hit by a stolen Jeep in Southwark at 13:18 BST yesterday.
His ten-week-old brother was in the baby seat of the pram, while his older brother and mother walked beside him as they returned from a parents meeting at their local school.
Billy was taken to Royal London hospital but died of his injuries, while his younger brother sustained a bump on the head but has since been discharged.
Two 14-year-olds have been arrested by Metropolitan police in connection with the incident, and are currently being held at a south London police station.
The tragedy occurred when a green Jeep Wrangler, which had recently been reported as stolen, travelled west on Rolls Road and collided with a tree and then the pushchair with the infant inside.
A statement issued by Billy's family said: "We are devastated by the death of our son Billy. We would like to expressly thank all the emergency services, particularly the doctors and nurses who worked so hard to save him. We would also like to thank all the well-wishers who have been laying flowers at the scene for the kindness they have shown.
"We would now like to be left alone to come to terms with the loss of our wonderful son and request the media respect our privacy at this time."
