Newcastle piled on the misery for Leeds Carnegie with a thrilling 21-19 win at Kingston Park in the Guinness Premiership.
The Falcons, who led 15-8 at the break, jumped into second place in the table after touching down twice through Tom May and Andy Long.
The hosts edged to victory with drop goals from Steve Jones, Matthew Burke and May.
Rock-bottom Leeds, who have yet to win any of their four games this season, crossed the line twice through Joe Bedford and Erik Lund.
Elsewhere, Bath came from behind to see off London Irish 22-20 at the Madejski Stadium.
Irish crossed the line through David Paice while Eoghan Hickey slotted over five penalties.
Bath touched down through Spencer Davey and Daniel Browne while Shaun Berne kicked a conversion and penalty.
The visitors took the lead six minutes from time when Danny Grewcock touched down to give Bath only their second away win in the league in 18 months.
Elsewhere, Sale strolled to a 16-0 win over Wasps at Edgeley Park.
Prop Lionel Faure scored the Sharks' only try while Charlie Hodgson kicked the conversion along with a penalty and two drop goals.
The win sees the Sharks remain in eighth spot while Wasps remain in tenth place.
