Arsenal playmaker Cesc Fabregas has vowed to stay at the Emirates despite their disappointing end to the season.

The Gunners led the Premier League for much of the season and looked a good bet to win the Champions League after beating AC Milan. But a dismal run of form has seen them fall seven points behind Manchester United in the league and lose to Liverpool in Europe.

They did have a morale boosting 2-0 win over Reading today, but it seems like they will end the season without any silverware.

Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid have both been linked with a big summer move for Fabregas, but the midfielder insisted he is committed to Arsenal.

"My future? I really hope it belongs to Arsenal," Fabregas told Sky Sports after the game against Reading

"This was important for pride, for the fans, for ourselves. We are all disappointed for the season, how it finished. I think we did pretty well all season but at the end it was disappointing.

"We needed a performance like this to try to finish as best we can. We don't want to always say 'next year, next year'. I think it is a mistake. We want to do it now," added the Spanish international.

Fabregas has become a leader at Arsenal after the departures of the like of Thierry Henry and Patrick Viera and media reports suggested this morning that he might be handed the captain's armband for next season.
