Cesc Fabregas has brushed off reports in Spain he has already signed a deal with Barcelona by insisting he could stay at Arsenal for the rest of his career.
Outgoing Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said the deal to bring the midfielder back to the club he left as a 15-year-old is already signed and sealed.
But Fabregas, now 22, refused to be drawn into the presidential power struggle at the Nou Camp in a press conference ahead of tomorrow's Champions League match with Standard Liege.
"I do not think about it because I do not want to and I do not think I should," The Gunners captain said. "I am at a great club, with a great team and am happy.
"We have a long season in front of us, and the last thing I want to do is get disconnected from what I have to do playing for Arsenal, who are the club which pays me. I am really looking forward to a great season."
When asked whether he would consider staying at Arsenal for the rest of his career, the Spain international responded: "Why not?"
He went on to say: "I have never really thought about it, staying here all my life, because you never know what your career will bring. It is my seventh season now, I am really happy, better than ever, so you never know."
Arsenal are missing long-term injury absentees Robin van Persie and Nicklas Bendtner for tomorrow's group H clash.
Abou Diaby, Gael Clichy and Johan Djourou are also all out, but Kieran Gibbs returns to the squad.
