Nemanja Vidic is set to miss tomorrow's FA Cup replay with Reading because of tiredness.
The defender missed training today as he was still feeling the effects of tough games against Lille in the Champions League and Saturday's 2-1 win over Fulham.
Vidic was substituted mid-way through the second half at Craven Cottage and could be replaced by Mikael Silvestre or Wes Brown in central defence in the fifth round replay at the Madjeski Stadium.
The 25-year-old has started all of United's games in 2007 and will be among several first-team players rested ahead of Saturday's crunch game with Liverpool at Anfield.
Vidic has formed a solid partnership with Rio Ferdinand, which has kept four clean sheets in their last six games.
After a tough start following his £7 million move from Roma in January 2006, the Serbian international has been one of United's most consistent performers this season.
Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Henrik Larsson, and goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar are also expected to be rested.
Forgotten man Alan Smith and youngster Tom Heaton are set to be named on the bench for Sir Alex Ferguson's side.
The winner of the game will play either Middlesbrough or West Brom in the quarter-finals of the cup.
