Venus and Serena cruised through to doubles victory
Serena and Venus Williams completed a fairytale day at Wimbledon on Saturday after winning the women's doubles title hours after contesting the singles final.

It is the third time the sisters have won the Wimbledon doubles crown, having previously won in 2000 and 2002.

After spending the afternoon on opposite sides of Centre Court, the pair teamed up in the evening to face American Lisa Raymond and Australia's Samantha Stosur.

The Williams sisters dominated the match and won 6-2 6-2 in just under an hour in front of a good crowd who had stayed on following the singles final.

Veteran Raymond was broken twice in the first set, in the third and 7th games to give the Williams' the advantage.

The sisters again threatened to break the serve of their fellow American at the start of the second set but Raymond fought valiantly and managed to take the game to deuce before holding.

However, it was not long before Venus and Serena were in front once more, having created the break-point opportunity Stosur handed the game with a double-fault.

The Williams' broke one more time before the end and Venus won the match with a lob that bounced on the baseline.

The straight sets win meant the Williams' won the trophy without dropping a set during the tournament.End of story
