Everton have signed Portuguese striker Joao Silva from Desportivo Das Aves for an undisclosed fee, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

Officials from the Premier League club flew to Portugal earlier this week to conclude the transfer and the 20-year-old has now signed a three-year deal at Goodison Park.

Silva ended last season as the second top scorer in the Liga Vitalis - Portugal's second division.

The Portuguese forward scored 14 goals in 32 appearances for Aves during the 2009-10 campaign and has played for his country's under-20 side.

Everton announced Silva will link up with the rest of the squad for a pre-season tour to Australia in July.
