Worcestershire star Graeme Hick cracked 88 runs off just 58 balls to guide his side a nine wicket win over Gloucestershire in the Twenty20 Cup.

The 42-year-old smashed 11 fours and a six in his knock and shared in an opening stand of 143 with Vikram Solanki (51) which all but secured Worcestershire the win at New Road as they were chasing 169.

Gloucestershire ended up setting a competitive total but they could have a few more runs on the scoreboard had they not lost wickets at regular intervals.

Chris Taylor (39), Marcus North (45) and captain Alex Gidman (22) all played well but none of them were able to hang around and go on to make a really big score.

Kabir Ali was the star for Worcestershire with the ball as he bowled his four overs for only 23 runs and claimed two wickets.

Elsewhere, a superb bowling performance from Middlesex saw them beat local rivals Essex at Lords today.

Three wickets for Tim Murtagh and two a piece from Murali Kartik and Tyron Henderson restricted Essex to 115-9 from their 20 overs.

Middlesex lost three wickets in reply, but Eoin Morgan (47) and Ed Smith (33) led the home side to victory with three overs and one ball left to spare.

A brilliant 62-ball hundred from Greg Smith helped Derbyshire to a big total of 182 against Yorkshire.

England captain Michael Vaughan fell for a second ball duck as Yorkshire could only manage 134-9 from their 20 overs.
