Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson says a desire for more European success is what motivates him to remain in charge at Old Trafford.
Ferguson, who won the Champions League in 1999 and 2008 as well as the Cup Winners Cup in 1991, feels he should have won more silverware in Europe over the years.
He told CNN: "If there was one challenge, I would love the club to win more European trophies. I don't think we've won the number we should have won."
Ferguson said that if United could win a few more European titles then he would be able to retire a happy man and would not look back on the years when United failed to win with any regret.
He added: "There have been years where we were unlucky. The years we were disappointed. The years when we've thrown games away, and that sort of gives you a kaleidoscope of what football is like in a way.
"So, therefore, if we could just win a couple more European trophies then I would definitely quit."
With the prospect of Ferguson moving on should he achieve what he wants to in Europe with United, the Scot said any successor would have to have a wealth of experience to be able to take over from him.
Ferguson suggests his former Chelsea rival Jose Mourinho, whose Inter Milan side United knocked out of this season's Champions League, would be a suitable successor but he said the decision would be up to the club.
He said: "I think you need someone with experience here because it's a big club now. It's a massive club.
"I like Jose [Mourinho]. I think he's a good guy. We've got on very well together but I don't know what the club thinks about who the next manager is going to be."
Although Ferguson has been thinking about his future the United boss says he has no intention of walking away from the Old Trafford dug-out yet.
"Hopefully it's not for another two or three years because I intend to stay on as long as I can," he concluded.
United will hope to bounce back from a 2-2 draw at home to Porto in the Champions League next week as they look to retain their European title.
