Spain striker Fernando Torres believes 'justice was done' in the European Championship final after his side lifted a first major trophy for 44 years.
The Spaniards hoisted the Euro 2008 title their first triumph on the international stage since winning the same competition in 1964 after a deserved 1-0 victory over Germany.
And afterwards Torres claimed: "The team that played the best football won the tournament.
"It's a dream come true. Justice has been done."
The Liverpool star, who scored the winning goal after 33 minutes of the match in Vienna, said he felt "a tremendous joy" at the end of the game.
"It still hasn't sunk in what we've achieved," he continued.
"This is my first title and I hope it's the first of many. We are used to watching finals on television, but today we were here and we won.
"Now we have a place in European football history."
