Former England manager Sven Goran Eriksson has insisted his is not interested in becoming the new manager of Portsmouth.
Speculation surrounding the possibility of Eriksson joining Portsmouth has intensified as the Swede has come under-pressure as coach of Mexico. His team lost a crucial World Cup qualifier to the USA last month and former Atletico Madrid coach Javier Aguirre has been touted as taking over from Eriksson.
Eriksson has been one of the favourites to replace Tony Adams at Fratton Park, but the 61-year-old ex-Manchester City coach says he remains determined to take Mexico to the World Cup in South Africa.
"I have a running contract with Mexico to take them to South Africa," said Eriksson during a press conference. "Do I like Portsmouth? I like coaching Mexico and I want to take them to the World Cup.
"I want to be on the bench when Mexico play in the World Cup. (The reports regarding Portsmouth) are just speculation."
Portsmouth have managed to forge out of the relegation zone under the stewardship of the caretaker manager Paul Hart. But Portsmouth have yet to indicate if Hart will be given a long-term contract and are thought to be still targeting an experienced manager.
