The London branch of Climate Camp has revealed it will stage a 48-hour protest somewhere in London this weekend.
The group has not yet revealed the location to would-be campers or the Metropolitan police.
The camp, which is being staged to mark the UN climate change summit that starts next week in Copenhagen, will take place in one of four boroughs.
Climate Camp organisers have told police which four boroughs they may camp in: Kensington and Chelsea, the City of Westminster, the City of London, and Lambeth.
Those planning to join the camp will be informed of the location by text message.
The last London Climate Camp took place on Blackheath, Greenwich, on August 26th.
Superintendent Julia Pendry, who has been leading discussions with Climate Camp representatives, said: "Following on from this summer's Climate Camp on Blackheath we've been in discussion with representatives from this weekend's planned protest.
"In the spirit of working with us they have been prepared to give us a list of four boroughs they may go to. However, it is disappointing that Climate Camp are not willing to provide more information as to their protest site."
The organisers have a history of not revealing the location of the camps until the last possible meeting. They have claimed this is due to fears that if they told the police the camp's whereabouts in advance they would stop the events going ahead.
A statement on the climate camp website said: "On Saturday December 5th 2009, Climate Camp London will be joining the tens of thousands of people descending on London to help put the spotlight on the failing international climate talks in Copenhagen."
