US sitcom Ugly Betty has been axed after four seasons, the ABC network has announced.
The fashion series, starring America Ferrara, won two Golden Globes in 2007 while Ferrara claimed a best comedy actress Emmy in the same year.
But after falling ratings in the US between the third and fourth series, the comedy will come to an end in April.
"We've mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty's final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion," said executive producer Silvio Horta and ABC president Steve McPherson said in a joint statement.
"We are extremely proud of this groundbreaking series, and felt it was important to give the fans a proper farewell."
Based on Columbian series Yo Soy Betty, La Rea, the series aired on Channel 4 and E4 in the US and also starred Eric Mabius, Vanessa Williams, Becki Newton, Michael Urie and Scottish actress Ashley Jensen.
Mark Indelicato, who played Betty's nephew, Justin Suarez, told People he had enjoyed an "amazing four years" on the series.
"I've learned so much from the wonderful actors I have worked with," he added.
"It's sad to see this come so unexpectedly but I think that we all recognise the tremendous work that we have done - and am very grateful for that."
