The housemates involved in the seventh series of reality TV-athon Big Brother will enter the infamous house tonight, ending weeks of speculation about their identity.
In a live show to be broadcast on Channel 4 at 21:00 BST, BB-stalwart Davina McCall will attempt to put the disappointment of her failed BBC1 chatshow behind her and introduce the 12 people who will keep millions of viewers glued to their screen for the next three months, or not.
Show bosses have already pledged to make this year's run "more twisted than ever", with the bizarre decor of the house, which despite the record number of contestants has been made smaller, supporting this claim.
The inside-outside approach means that the garden is fully carpeted over and the kitchen comes complete with a floor of grass. The housemates will also share one communal bedroom and bathroom, with glass walls removing any lingering hopes of some privacy.
A 13th contestant is also expected to join the house at a later date, with a Willy Wonka-style competition organised to find the lucky winner 100 golden tickets have been hidden in Kit Kat bars, with the final housemate to be chosen at random on air on June 2nd.
"This is a first for Big Brother. Nothing on this scale has ever been tried before in a reality show," said a BB spokesman.
"We are always looking at new ways of trying to find brilliant housemates and the golden ticket feels like a genuinely exciting way to do so."
Big Brother has been incredibly lucrative for Channel 4 since debuting in the UK in 2000, but viewing figures for the last series were again down on the first season, suggesting Brits may finally be getting bored of seeing the same old tired antics from celebrity wannabes.
However viewers feel about Big Brother, it's worth bearing in mind that all 13 eventual contestants are people that are willing to miss the World Cup in favour of their 15 minutes of fame.
