TV presenter Chris Tarrant has been arrested in Nottingham following an incident at an Indian restaurant.
A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire police said that a 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault after a 999 call was made at 22:00 BST on Sunday from a man who claimed he had been assaulted by a fellow diner.
The man was taken into custody and has been bailed till a date in June pending further inquiries. The incident occurred at the Memsaab Indian restaurant in Maid Marian Way.
Speaking to Sky News, Tarrant dismissed the incident claiming that there was "nothing in it" and that he was "shocked" at the allegation.
Tarrant is one of the UK's most well-known TV presenters and has headed the popular Who Wants to be a Millionaire quiz show since 1998.
He has also presented a number of episodes of Have I Got News For You and writes and presents Tarrant on TV.
The TV veteran made his debut in the 1970s, presenting a range of comedy shows. He was awarded an OBE in the 2004 New Year's honours list for his work in TV.
