A woman carrying twins for Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and her husband actor Matthew Broderick has given birth.

The couple's spokesman Simon Halls said the twin girls, Marion Loretta Elwell and Tabitha Hodge, were born in Ohio on Monday afternoon.

Marion is reported to have weighed 5lbs 11oz, while Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6lbs.

"The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon," a statement declared.

Parker, 44, and Broderick, 47, had already announced they were expecting twins by a surrogate.

The couple have another six-year-old son.
