Strictly Come Dancing runner-up Ricky Whittle has appeared in court to deny a charge of dangerous driving.

The 29-year-old was arrested by Merseyside police in November after allegedly striking a photographer with his car.

The Hollyoaks actor was leaving a party in the centre of Liverpool when it is alleged he assaulted 34-year-old photographer Steve Farrell.

Whittle, of Billinge, near Wigan, appeared before Liverpool magistrates to deny a charge of dangerous driving and spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and plea.

He was granted unconditional bail and will reappear at the court on March 12th for a committal hearing to Liverpool crown court.

As he left the court, the actor stopped to pick up a cameraman who had slipped on ice while walking backwards to film Whittle.
