Spanish singer Ruth Lorenzo became the eighth contestant to be voted off The X Factor as the hopefuls performed a series of American hits.
The 26-year-old left the ITV1 show after receiving the least number of votes.
Diana Vickers, Alexandra Burke, Eoghan Quigg and boyband JLS all advance to the semi-finals.
"I fought with all my heart, with everything I had. And this doesn't end here," said Lorenzo after her exit.
"This is the beginning of my dream."
"All I can say is thank you so much. I never ever dreamed of this ever," she added, before a rendition of Bon Jovi's Always.
Her mentor Dannii Minogue paid tribute to Lorenzo's "incredible vocal".
"She was the most beautiful person to work with. She's going to be a friend forever," the judge said.
Britney Spears performed her hit Womanizer on the Saturday night episode while Miley Cyrus also took to the stage with 7 Things.
