Congratulations to Pete Bennett, who has won the seventh series of Big Brother.

The 24-year-old Tourette's sufferer greeted his victory by running around, repeatedly shouting variations on "f****** hell", "sh*t" and "eezamanah".

Upon emerging from the Big Brother house, he staggered up and down, clutching his head and screaming as the mandatory fireworks exploded overhead, before promptly falling down the stairs to a gobsmacked Davina McCall.

"Last year I went mad and a bit bananas and I was completely and absolutely at the end of my. life and all that," he explained.

"I had this huge visit from my mate... he showed me a huge spiral and. at the top of the spiral was heaven and where I was was hell, yeah man! And he showed me that the only way up to heaven was to have to go into Big Brother and win."

He said his victory "meant a lot" and was worth much "more than just money". He will receive £100,000 for his win, which was handed to him by viewers in a public vote.

In second place was 18-year-old Glyn, who gleefully waved a Welsh flag on the stage outside as crowds cheered his appearance from the house.

He restated his undying patriotism for his native country and was read a message sent to him by Welsh first minister Rhodrig Morgan.

Pete and Glyn had endured an anxious wait with just third-placed Aisleyne for company, coping with the pressure in their own inimitable styles. While Pete got progressively more excited Glyn paced up and down, preparing the "political issues" he planned to raise.

Meanwhile outside the early departures of Jennie, Nikky and Richard in the early stages of the evening saw the crowd's excitement grow through progressive waves of hysteria.

Alas, the runners-up dealt with their evictions in strikingly different fashions.

While Jennie and Richard exited with fair amounts of dignity, Nikky entered into permanent tantrum mode and barely answered Davina's questioning. Aisleyne, who admitted that she was an "emotional wreck", chose to meet the boos that greeted her by apologising - to virtually everyone.

The night belonged to Pete, however, who has entertained viewers with his spontaneous and entirely open nature.

Catching sight of himself on a monitor during his interview with Davina, he stood up on his chair excitedly and asked: "Is that me?"
