Last of the Summer Wine actor Brian Wilde died during his sleep this morning, his agent has announced.
The 80-year-old played Foggy Dewhirst in over 100 episodes in the classic series and is also best known for his appearance as Barrowclough in Porridge.
"He will be sadly missed by colleagues and family alike," his agent Nick Young said.
"He brought a great deal of laughter into many people's lives."
Wilde died at his home in Hertfordshire after suffering a fall seven weeks ago.
His Last of the Summer Wine co-star Peter Sallis paid tribute to him, telling the BBC: "He was great fun to be with and to work with, so I'm very, very sorry to hear the news."
The show's producer Alan JW Bell added: "He was perhaps the best of the Summer Wine 'third men' - he was the most loved of all the characters.
"He was a fine actor to work with, very professional. He was an old school actor - you turned up, knew your lines and played them the very best you could.
"He had an enormous warmth to the public when he was off the set."
