Celebrity chef and school dinners champion Jamie Oliver has announced the opening of the latest branch of his Fifteen restaurant franchise in Cornwall.
The surfing haven of Newquay will be home to Fifteen Cornwall, which as with previous restaurants opened by Oliver will employ a team of hungry youngsters as chefs.
Originally a joint project with Channel 4, the first Fifteen restaurant opened in Shoreditch, east London, in 2002 and saw deprived youngsters given a chance to hold down a job and move on in life.
Jamie followed this with a sister-restaurant in the Dutch city of Amsterdam, and he also plans to open a branch in Melbourne, Australia.
The 21 teenage chefs at the latest Fifteen all hail from Cornwall and were chosen from a pool of 300 applicants.
They are guaranteed at least a year's worth of experience at the restaurant and have already proved their commitment to the job by completing lengthy training courses and work experience placements.
Speaking outside the restaurant, Jamie told the BBC that "Cornwall as we all know is a beautiful place and buzzing in the summer".
"But there are quite a lot of dark rainy less busy months in the off season, there is reasonably high unemployment here and various social problems."
He explained that this was the reason why he and his team were so "passionate" about the new restaurant, which can seat 100 diners.
