Irish star Samantha Mumba has become the latest contestant evicted from ITV1's Dancing On Ice after another "nice" performance.

The singer found herself in the bottom two along with javelin thrower Steve Backley - after the judges' points and public vote were combined - and was voted off when the judging panel chose to save Steve.

After her elimination, the 25-year-old said: "I've had an absolute ball and really enjoyed it. It was amazing, I just want to keep doing it for fun."

Samantha and partner Pavel had performed to the Supremes' hit You Can't Hurry Love, ending their dance with Samantha doing the splits.

Though they scored 16 points from the judges, West End star Ruthie Henshall said the performance showed Samantha's limitations.

Awarding the pair 3.5 points, she added: "My English teacher once said you should never use the word nice, you should always say lovely or fabulous.

"My problem with you is your performance is always nice, it's never spectacular and I want you to come up because I know you can."

Hollyoaks actor Chris Fountain and partner Frankie grabbed the highest score of the series so far, earning 23.5 points after their dance to Take That's Rule the World.

The show favourite said afterwards: "This week we've been trying to connect and I was looking at her the whole way round and so it was all a blur!"

And new contestant Zaraah Abrahams - who stepped into the breach after TV presenter Michael Underwood broke his ankle - impressed the judges in her debut dance, earning 18.5 points while performing to Take a Chance by Abba.
