X Factor-rejects Futureproof have blamed Simon Cowell for their exit from the show on Saturday night.

The boyband had received a glowing reception from the judging panel after their version of Andy Williams' Can't Take My Eyes off You.

But the five-piece - part of the groups category mentored by Cowell - failed to win over the public and were forced into a sing-off with girlband Hope.

And after being voted off the ITV1 talent show the band have blamed Cowell for changing their dance routines just ten minutes before the live show began on Saturday night.

According to the Mirror, Richard Wilkinson, 23, said: "We had a hard week and I think we did pretty well because of last minute changes."

Aaron Delahunty, 19, added: "Matt's solo bit got cut and the dancing came to barely nothing."

Both Futureproof and Hope were formed from rejected solo singers during the boot camp stage of the talent contest, taking the manufactured band concept to another convoluted level.

But their lack of votes guaranteed the exit of one of the bands on Saturday and in the end it was the boys who were sent packing by the judges.

Cowell admitted he had probably made a mistake in their song, but ended their hopes anyway by telling them they did not have the best "long-term prospects".

There are now eight acts in the competition, after contestant Emily Nakanda quit the show amid tabloid allegations of her assaulting another teenager.
