Coronation Street star Debra Stephenson is to leave the long-running soap after two years of playing feisty Frankie Baldwin.
The 33-year old actress will be quitting the show by the end of the year, but the door will be left open for a possible return.
Blonde Debra said her role on the Street had been "the best job I have ever had".
She said: "I will miss all the great friends I have made here and it will be lovely to think that this isn't the last the public has seen of Frankie."
The actress will be leaving to move down south and spend more time with her family, as her young son Max is due to start school next year.
Her character Frankie has been through a turbulent time in Weatherfield, constantly arguing with her on-screen husband Danny, played by Bradley Walsh.
A show spokeswoman said: "Debra has been a great asset to the show and her portrayal of Frankie Baldwin has been fantastic.
"However, when she joined the show we were aware that she only planned to stay for two years and we fully appreciate her reasons for leaving. We wish her every success for the future."
