Television presenter Esther Rantzen has become the latest I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! contestant to be voted off the ITV1 show.

The former That's Life host was evicted from the jungle having received the fewest number of votes from the public.

Ex-Blue singer Simon Webbe had also been left in the bottom two after audiences cast their ballots, but narrowly avoided eviction.

"I'm feeling very sorry to leave because they are such lovely people and the whole environment is so gorgeous. But I think it's the right moment," said Esther after her exit.

"It made you very vulnerable emotionally because you were cut off from all the distractions of everyday life… I found my emotions very raw," she added.

Esther described former EastEnders actor Joe Swash - currently favourite to win the show - as "very loveable".

She also praised Joe Swash for confronting Brian Paddick and Nicola McLean over their behaviour towards the Timmy Mallett and David Van Day

"People would gang up against two individuals. If you told me before what would happen I would have felt I could have handled it, but I couldn't," the 68-year-old explained.

"It took little Joe, who suddenly got very angry about it and held up a mirror to the people doing it and made them see what they were doing. I felt quite inadequate."

Earlier, former children's TV presenter Timmy got the boot after being beaten in an eviction trial by Brian, former commissioner of the Metropolitan police.

Many of the celebrity contestants were happy to see the back of the 45-year-old, who had irritated a number of his fellow campmates.
