Film stars Rachel Weisz and Jude Law have both been rewarded for their stage work with prizes at the Critics' Circle Theatre Awards.
Weisz, soon to be seen in Peter Jackson's adaptation of The Lovely Bones, was named best actress for her performance as Blanche DuBois in Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire.
"The London critics are the toughest and most discerning critics in the world," said Oscar-winner Weisz, who described Streetcar as "a thrilling, exhilarating experience".
"It really means a huge amount to me that they're giving me this award - I'm very grateful and proud."
Mark Rylance took best actor for Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem - which was also named best new play - while Law received the best Shakespearean performance trophy for Hamlet.
Other winners at the Critics' Circle awards included Rupert Goold - winning his second best director prize - Tom Sturridge for best newcomer and Alia Bano for the most promising playwright honour.
Weisz was also honoured at the last ever South Bank Show Awards, also held in London on Tuesday, as Streetcar won the theatre prize.
The Donmar Warehouse production beat Jerusalem and Alan Bennett's new play The Habit of Art to the prize.
Channel 4's Red Riding picked up the best television drama award while The Thick of It edged out Home Time and The Inbetweeners for the TV comedy prize.
Artist David Blandy received the Times Breakthrough award, beating actresses Carey Mulligan and Suranne Jones, among others, to the award.
Finally, South Bank Show host Melvyn Bragg received an outstanding achievement award for his contribution to the arts.
