Coroner rules Mark Speight committed suicide by hanging himself
A coroner has ruled that the BBC television presenter Mark Speight committed suicide by hanging himself.

The 42-year-old took his own life using his shoe laces at Paddington railway station in London last month, coroner Dr Paul Knapman declared today.

Sky News reports that the inquest into the presenter's death heard that he had tried to hang himself with his belt minutes earlier.

Dr Knapman declared Mr Speight had been left "devastated" by the death of his fiancee Natasha Collins in January.

Fellow presenter Ms Collins was found dead in a bath tub at the couple's flat after ingesting cocaine, sleeping pills and vodka.

She was discovered with burns covering 60 per cent of her body and Mr Speight was initially arrested on suspicion of murder but later released.

Mr Speight went missing for six days after failing to meet with Ms Collins' mother in central London.

He was later found dead in a building next to the railway station on April 13th.End of story
