Supermodel Cindy Crawford and her husband have been targeted by an alleged blackmail plot involving a picture of their daughter bound and gagged.
A German male model has been charged with trying to extort money from the couple over the photo, which allegedly shows Crawford and Rande Gerber's then-eight-year-old daughter Kaia tied to a chair.
Court papers filed by the FBI and US attorney's office state the picture was taken by the couple's former nanny during a 'cops and robbers' game.
The nanny has not been charged but Edis Kayalar, who has since been deported to Germany, has been charged with attempting to extort £60,000 from Crawford and Gerber. If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison.
It alleged that he repeatedly threatened to release the photo to the media unless the model and her entrepreneur husband paid him up to $100,000.
In a statement, Crawford's spokeswoman Annett Wolf said: "Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford intend to pursue any and all available legal action against anyone who aids the perpetrator in the distribution or sale of the photograph of their daughter."
