Police searching for the seven-year-old nephew of actress Jennifer Hudson have found a boy's body.

Julian King has been missing since Friday when Hudson's mother and brother were found dead in their Chicago home with gunshot wounds.

And after the Oscar-winner and her family offered a $100,000 (£64,770) reward for the safe return of Julian, police confirmed they have found the body of a young black male in a sports utility vehicle.

Investigators from the Cook County Medical Examiner's office have been sent to the scene but there is as yet no confirmation of the identity of the body.

Chicago deputy police chief Joseph Patterson said on Saturday that the body of Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, was found on the living room floor while her brother, Jason Hudson, was found dead in a bedroom in the house.

Both bodies had fatal gunshot wounds and there were no signs of forced entry into the house, investigators added.

Julia Hudson, mother to missing Julian, made an emotional plea for the return of her son at a weekend conference, saying: "All I ask, I don't care who you are, just let my baby go. Please, I just want my son."

Her sister Jennifer has since updated her MySpace page to thank fans for their support during this difficult period for the Hudson family.

"Please keep praying for our family and that we get Julian King back home safely," she wrote.

"If anyone has any information about his whereabouts please contact the authorities immediately"

She also included a picture of her nephew in what he was last seen wearing.

Jennifer Hudson's career was launched after her appearance as a contestant on American Idol in 2005.

She then won an Oscar for her performance in Dreamgirls and was also seen in hit film Sex and the City.

"Jennifer and her family appreciate the enormous amount of love, support and prayers they have received while she and her family try to cope with this tragedy and continue the search for Julian," added a statement from Hudson's representative Lisa Kasteler on Sunday.
