Mario Marconi and Lisa Appleton, the real couple in the Big Brother 9 house, have begun to argue after he was nominated for eviction.

Mario, 42, and his 40-year-old girlfriend were forced to hide their relationship for the opening weeks of the show, after Big Brother set them, along with Luke Marsden and Stephanie McMichael, a secret task.

Though they remained in the house despite failing the task, Mario and Lisa have begun to argue some 34 days into the show, with Lisa's incessant cleaning annoying her Home Office worker partner.

"If you want to be a maid all your life, then great," Mario told her, adding: "They are laughing in your face and you just can't see it. They are walking all over you."

Lisa denied she did housework to safeguard her place in the show, to which Mario replied: "You think you are on holiday on a campsite… it annoys me, it does, it annoys me, to the fact where it's sickening."

And their squabble continued with Mario telling Lisa: "I'm not like you, I'm not in it to win it, you are, I'm not.

"You've changed, you're not yourself".

Speaking in the diary room after the argument, Lisa admitted: "The cracks are starting to show a little bit."

"It's difficult being a couple," she added, explained that the pair had never spent this much time together.

And Mario showed no signs of abandoning his point, stressing to Lisa that the other housemates were playing a 'game' by nominating him.

"They pop me off and then you're left on your own, and then you're nothing," he explained.

"You're not strong, 'cause a) you haven't got your man, and b) they may well play around you for a week or two, cooking and that, but I tell you what, they'll take you out of the game."

Mario and Rebecca Shiner, 21, face eviction this Friday.
